who am i?
My name is Andreas Schmidt, also known as ASAK, and I am an artist based in Cologne. I specialize in vinyl record art, working with old records and transforming them by hand using a unique technique I developed myself. This process gives the material a completely new appearance and results in one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces and sculptures.
My works combine repurposing, craftsmanship, and contemporary art, and are especially known for their innovative use of vinyl records.
I financed my studies by selling vinyl records—an experience that shaped both my creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. With a migration background, I speak five of the world’s major languages, three of which I use daily. Fifteen years ago, I also studied Chinese, which further broadened my perspective and appreciation for different cultures.
Still, I feel most at home expressing myself through images, because for me, art is the universal language that often says more than words ever could

Feel free to get in touch to follow up my art, commissions or to collaborate. I am creating daily but don’t necessarily show it on social media, because I prefer to create instead of documenting and fighting the steady changing algorithms.
Exhibitions:
I am open to invitations for both solo and group exhibitions and have already had the pleasure of participating in several inspiring projects. Each exhibition offers me the opportunity to experience my work in a new context and engage in dialogue with other artists and the audience.
